Emily Follett-Campbell was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. When she was young, she loved to perform, attending Etobicoke School of the Arts in high school and earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Concordia University in Montreal. She spent the rest of her twenties trying to find a sensible job that would enable her to do what she really wanted: write. She has had many jobs (not all of them sensible—she once worked as a magician's assistant) in restaurants, marketing, and set and prop construction. In her early thirties, she realized she wasn't being sensible at all, only cowardly, and subsequently wrote SPARK'S AND CAMPBELL'S EMPORIUM OF INTERESTING GOODS PRESENTS: THE NOSE AND HIS PERFUME. She is excited about the book she is currently working on, a young adult murder mystery called, WATCHING, which is in a futuristic city where everyone watches each other all the time.
